Design of transmission systems equips learners with practical skills necessary for design of power transmitting components in mechanical engineering. The course builds up necessary hands on workshop experience and knowledge for design projects which students undertake in fifth year.

The course outline is rich with design concepts for clutch, brake, belts, chains, cams among others.

At the end of this unit, the student should be able to:

1. Select and use drawing tools and equipment.

2. Construct loci of points in mechanisms, orthographic and pictorial views commonly encountered in engineering drawing.

3. Make basic electrical and piping drawings or freehand sketches
